Hundreds of millions of entrepreneurs around the globe are trying to make a living, and millions more are longing to break free from the rat race. There is something so satisfying about being your own boss, having some freedom and following your dreams.

At the same time, starting a business comes with a lot of risks, sometimes very long hours, and often a real uncertainty about when you’ll get your next paycheck.

Not sure how to set your priorities? Need to know the tools to grow your business and maintain a work-life balance? Want to make sure you succeed? Take a look at these 5 tips that can help you pave your way to success.

Share your vision

Many people shy away from sharing their hopes, dreams and goals and keep them locked away inside their own minds. Instead of having these secret endeavors, voice your goals. Sharing things with others will help you attract the resources you’ll need on your journey. When you publicly announce your commitment, it instantly becomes more powerful because you’ll be held accountable for achieving these goals. Start with a clear, compelling vision that solves a real problem and your passion will shine through.

Test the concept

Once you have a really great idea, you need to ensure it’s one that people will love and want to buy. A vital part of the process is testing and validating. Find out if there’s a large, committed customer base in the making. If you need help getting off your feet, turn to crowdfunding for help. Remember to seek feedback on your products and take it to heart– this invaluable information can be used to fine tune your offerings and ensure that you offer your target audience exactly what they want and need. Once you have some answers, you can plan your marketing like a pro and start selling!

Keep learning

Starting a new business will stretch you out of your comfort zone. Look at this discomfort as a great opportunity to expand your skill set and embrace learning new things. Maybe you aren’t sure how to turn to social media to attract new customers. Maybe you need to learn how to send a fax from your computer. Don’t let little unknowns faze you and keep you from pressing on. Running a business will be one of the most challenging yet fulfilling things you can ever do. The adventure will require you to learn a wide variety of things as customers wants and needs evolve. Commit to learning more and staying current and you’ll be amazed at how far you will go.

Know that nothing lasts forever

Think back at all of the events in your life that felt permanent, but actually weren’t. Apply this to every new endeavor you embark upon. Ryan Masten, co-founder of Earn2Trade LLC  says: “The first steps you take toward your goals will probably be the most difficult, but mastering this experience is invaluable”. It will make you stronger and prepare you for what lies ahead. Keep in mind that bravery and stepping outside of their comfort zone is what differentiates the extremely successful individuals from the ones who are getting by.

Believe you can do it

Many people often feel that you have to see it to believe it. But a successful person knows that success comes when you have a wild imagination and think about what can happen. See with your heart and mind what things will be like when, not if, you succeed. First you must have confidence in yourself – confidence is what fuels your drive to make things happen. Act proactively and take the steps you can to connect more easily with your customers. You can turn to social media platforms, create profiles and show that it’s professional and well established.

If you have great ideas and are finally trying to make them a reality, don’t allow the difficult aspects of running a business to hold you back. The highs and lows of entrepreneurship are all part of the journey, but will be worth it in the long run.
